A Week in the Life

The Start of My “Eat, Pray, Love” Summer

By Monica Bravo 5 Comments

I used to write these posts called “A Week in my Paleo Life”, where I’d basically tell you about what food I was eating, what workouts I was doing, and why. I thought they were kinda boring, but I got emails here and there saying they were appreciated. I usually hesitate to post personal things, but this summer I am embarking on my own “Eat, Pray, Love” experience. Or a Happiness project. Or I don’t know, one of those books that means I am opening my eyes to new things and experiences!

My summers and school breaks are always a time for me to refuel and do things that I really love. My freshman summer, I learned the world of blogging from Laura Fuentes. My sophomore summer, I studied for the MCAT. Now my junior summer, I will be learning how to cook from Chef Robert Vasquez.

A Week in My Paleo Life: Early December

Dead week is wrapping up here in Baton Rouge. Dead week meaning the week before finals. This is also the time when my usual coffee shops are packed with “seasonals” (as I call them) and us regulars are stuck finding new locations! I’ve had a few questions about how I can stay eating healthy during busy times, and my only answer is food prep. So here are some of the things I bought this past week to munch on!

I understand this doesn’t look like much, but some food isn’t pictures and I usually go to the grocery twice a week!

Summer has given me the time for all of my daily needs. Sunlight, healthy food, great workouts, play, and about 8 hours of sleep. It’s been a great time to reboot, and recharge for the next school year. And weirdly enough, I’m getting excited to get back into school schedule! I’m not afraid to say I like studying and school.. a lot!

After rereading some of my favorite Paleo books, I have gotten back into a 3 meal schedule. During school, it’s 2 or 1 or random snacks. Always Paleo food, but not routine, which is not good for my hormones. My body needs schedule and regular meals, so that’s what I’m going to give it! So far I’ve felt more energized, and it’s easier to wake up bright and early (around 7). I hate the feeling of not wanting to get out of bed, and this 3 meal thing is making me excited to get up, workout, and eat breakfast. Ironically, I did do a post at some point about how I didn’t think we needed breakfast. But it’s all experimental, and I have to see what works best for me and my body….
